MT4 ProCent vs Pro: picking the right account for copy trading

One of the most common setup mistakes in copy trading has nothing to do with markets: it's misreading a cent account. A balance that shows 10,000 on a cent account is $100, not $10,000. This guide explains the difference and how TradeVolumes recommends choosing.

What a cent account is

A cent account (such as RoboForex's MT4 ProCent) denominates the balance in US cents. Trade sizes and balances look 100 times larger than they really are. This allows very small real positions, which can help proportional copying work with smaller deposits.

What a standard account is

A standard account (such as MT4 Pro) shows balances in dollars. It suits larger balances where minimum lot sizes are less of a constraint.

Settings you can't add later

Some options, such as a Full Swap-Free account, must be selected when the trading account is created and cannot be added afterwards. Check every setting before you confirm — the setup guide lists them step by step.

If your balance crosses the threshold later

Don't switch accounts while trades are open without checking with the broker how open positions and subscriptions transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cent account riskier than a standard account?

The market risk per real dollar is the same. The main danger is misreading the displayed balance and depositing or sizing incorrectly.

Is $10,000 the minimum to start copying?

No. It is only the threshold in TradeVolumes' setup policy for choosing between account types. Check the strategy's current minimum with the broker.

Can I convert a cent account to a standard account?

Usually you open a new trading account. Ask the broker how to move funds and subscriptions safely.
